GC900 Software Update Help!

Hi,i'em in desperate need of some help with regards to updating my GC900 phone software.
I'em following all the instructions and downloading all the needed stuff but for the 'love of god' it won't update.
I've backed up all my stuff using Pc Suite and loaded up the software updating software but it keeps telling me to run activesync program before it will start.
I'em currently on phone version 10b and i think V10h is new the one so i'em way off.
Thanks for any replies and sorry if it is just me being a muppet and not doing it properly, lol.
