Problems re-installing Windows OS onto HP/Compaq 702 EA netbook.

Hi guys.
As the title suggests, I tried re-installing my Windows XP O/S onto my netbook as detailed above.
As the netbook doesn't have a disc drive, I tried copying the disc software to a usb flash drive and running the install from there.
It told me it deleted the original O/S, ready to reinstall the replacement.
It ran its usual file checks and said it couldn't install Windows as individual files were missing.
Now I have no O/S at all.
Is there any way I can get my netbook up and running again? I'm happy to answer any questions you may have to help get this sorted out.
