Organizing MP3's
Over the years I have accumulated a huge MP3 collection. I have consolodated it onto one single computer, but now I need to organize it, and name all the files uniformly. Is there any program out there that can recognise songs by file name and tag info, and then consolidate them and rename them all? I also have a large number of duplicate songs that need to be deleted.

Sony MP3 Walkman Vs Mac 5.1 ???
I recently purchased Sony's NWZ-B142 MP3 Walkman, and when trying to synch files from my Mac 5.1. Leopard 10.5 nothing happens, it won't even allow me to recharge the battery. So I'm assuming two things.. the WM is either not compatible with my Mac? or i need to install the correct drivers.
Could anyone make any suggestions?

how do I delete specific phone calls?
At some point in the past I was able to selectively delete phone calls from my history, but I can't remember how now. Anybody know how to do this? My phone is a blackberry 8330. Thanks...

New Apple TV
I swear I looked but how is it possible that we do not have a single dedicated Apple TV Thread? Nothing in the last year at least!
I got me one of these and having never owned the 1st gen version, I am very impressed!
I do have one simple question though? How on earth can I stop the Apple TV Remote messing with my Macbook iTunes?!?!
I mean, if I close my Laptop, then i cannot stream the iTunes content! And whenever it's open, as soon as I start clicking on the remote trying to control the Apple TV, my iTunes starts playing music, videos, higher & lowering the volume, ect...
Surely I can do something about this! And if it helps, I'm not interested in controlling my iTunes on my Mac via any remote.

I'm trying to put a 70 track 4 CD collection onto a single CDR/W (for personal use) both players in my cars play the mp3 tracks randomly, I can't work out how to fix this, as the CD set is a radio show it really messes the continuity up.
I've ripped each disc into 4 files, track and album names are present, what else can I try?
I've used Goldwave to do the ripping on my PC, is there anything that would do it better on the Mac?
Problems with new lg lcd tv
My parents bought a new lg 27'' tv yesterday, and they seem to be having issues with it.
They have it linked to sky via magic eye, and my dad has just phoned me and said that whenever they are on the menu, the whites look streaky, yet works fine on freeview.
He has tried other tvs in the house on the same link and they seem fine.
What could the problem be and how do we solve it?

I've now installed TomTom 6 on my E90 and tried to copy in my menu folder 'SDKRegistry' but I can't get menu's to use my own customized menu's I was using on TomTom 5,

Did anyone see the gadget show a week or two ago?
If so can you remember which handheld GPS receiver got the best review.
I heard that one model came out as much better than the others - I believe that it came with built in OS mapping.

Does anyone have any idea which would be the best Sat Nav software compatible with the Samsung Omnia? I believe the Omnia's GPS is a little weak, so I'm not sure if different softwares are better in view of this or not?

Problems re-installing Windows OS onto HP/Compaq 702 EA netbook.
Hi guys.
As the title suggests, I tried re-installing my Windows XP O/S onto my netbook as detailed above.
As the netbook doesn't have a disc drive, I tried copying the disc software to a usb flash drive and running the install from there.
It told me it deleted the original O/S, ready to reinstall the replacement.
It ran its usual file checks and said it couldn't install Windows as individual files were missing.
Now I have no O/S at all.
Is there any way I can get my netbook up and running again? I'm happy to answer any questions you may have to help get this sorted out.

Restoring my netbook back to the out of box condition?
When I recently bought my Eee Pc it was originally on Linux.
And I reformatted the hard drive and installed windows xp.
Having had xp installed am finding that it's too much of a drain on resources.
What want to do is reinstall the Linux gnu (i think) back onto it.
As I bought the unit 2nd hand there's no recovery cd.
I've looked online and can't find where or how to download it.
Can somebody please send me a link, or tell how to download, as I find Linux baffling.

Very odd Xbox behaviour.
I turned on my Xbox this morning and was listening to some music from the on board hard drive when it suddenly stopped and crashed.
When I tried turning it back on I got 3 red lights.
I unplugged my iPod, external HDD and the network from it and tried to power it on again to no avail.
I then removed the HDD from the top and tried powering it back on and it powered up fine and works.
I checked the contacts on the hard disk and put it back on the top, powered it up again and it works fine!
Any ideas? Am I a few power ons from complete console death?
I'm unable to find my receipt to get it repaired.
Any idea on the best thing to do if it does blow up? Can Microsoft glean much info about when it was manufactured from the serial number?
I don't want to be without my Xbox!

Dock has bizarrely stopped charging iPhone
I seem to be having problems with my iPhone or dock.
Bizarrely, the dock I bought now does not seem to charge my iPhone, even though it always has done, did this morning, but suddenly its not.
i always get 'this device is not compatible, would you like to turn on airplane mode?' which i do do, but its coming up with 'charging is not compatible with this device'.
What is to blame? The dock is a Iwantit iw900, the big black one.
How can this have happened anyway, its very odd?

As none of the phones i want are out yet/ only rumoured/ to my spec.
I've decided upon getting something to go with my phone.
I'm gonna upgrade to an E5 shortly.
But i want something with a better web browsing experience on the side.
I wont be taking it with me everywhere every day, but if im off out to the pub, or away for a few days or longer (carting my laptop with a 15.6; screen about is a bit much for those sorta trips, but fine for bringing round to my mums house and such.)
Theres no thin touch screen phones with a qwerty with 3.5mm jack, 5mp or more, 3g and wifi etc.
But the key thing is that i carry my phone in my pocket, and such devices as the Dext was too thick (i want 14mm or thinner, for a mobile).
and i think its just all too much for just a day to day phone like my E5, i want it to run quick so dont wanna put many apps and such on it.

Sony Vaio won't start up
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FW56E running Windows 7.
All was working fine until this morning when I started it up and entered my password.
The welcome screen stayed on for over 10 mins and then it started up properly, however every icon suddenly disappeared.
The screen went blank and an error message appeared saying ;Operating system not found;.
Apart from going to PC World to see what can be done can anyone make a suggestion as to what I can do? I don't have a recovery disk.

Any home networking boffins here?
More serious than the Mac bong question lol, my home network is annoying me! What I want to do is connect both of my macs to the network to be visible to each other, so I can sync things between them.
This works great on osx but not so great in windows (surprise surprise).
The mbp is running vista, the iMac is running windows 7 both on bootcamp.
I can see the iMac on vista but can't actually connect to it, I just can't press anything on the network map.
The windows 7 however will show every damn device in the house, everyone elses laptops, the tv and the xbox but not my bloody laptop!
Does anyone know how I can actually get these two computers to talk to each other, as to me it defeats the whole idea of having a 'networked home'

Weird iTunes Problem
I have a strange problem where my music library is stored on my home PC but podcasts keep being downloaded to my NAS.
This causes no end of grief as iTunes keeps complaining it can't find the files (pod casts) initially.
Any idea on how to fix it so everything is stored on the PC?
Things I've tried so far:
Use the ;Let iTunes organize my library; option
Used the ;Organize my library; option in iTunes - This copies everything to the PC, but then new episodes are stored on the NAS.
Its driving me crazy, any idea how to fix it?

Girlfriend is after something she can do all the facebooking stuff on, how do these none smartphone phones cope?
If these are likely to be a bit slow, we'll carry on looking at the 9700, DEXT or other androids due out when its time to upgrade.
But on first glance the samsung seems like it would do for her quite nicely, and it looks all right too.
Internet problems with Samsung B3100
Hello, I hope you can help me.
My partner and I both have vanilla Samsung B3110 handsets, which were purchased brand new on 7th April 2010.
Both handsets are having the same problem.
We put our sims in the phones, and got the wap and mms settings directly from the network, which were automatically sent by text.
We then went on to Facebook, using the in-built widget and posted status updates, which suggests that the internet works.
We have also made and received calls, sent and received texts, which suggests that those settings are all OK.
The problem is with external websites and browsers, which won't run.
I downloaded operamini, which went through the download sequence, but it would not install.
It said that the internet settings were incorrect, no matter which version I downloaded.
I tried signed and unsigned versions, and various ;incarnations; such as opera 5 beta, opera 4.2 and opera 3 - all of which were unsuccessful.
I don't understand how the internet settings can be incorrect, as Facebook is working fine.
Obviously, it is slow, as the handset is 2g, not 3g.
I would still expect it to work, though.

few problems with G800
hey, I recently purchased a G800 and im having a few problems with it.
Dno if anyone can help me with it.
Start with the worst.
I have an apply macbook and when ever I try to bluetooth something from the phone to macbook, the percentage complete bar on the phone appears for a second before coming up 'sending failed'.
This doesnt appear to be the phone or the laptop as I can send things fine to my ibook from the G800.
But also, the macbook can bluetooth to the phone and the laptop worked fine with my previous phone (sony K800i)
the other two problems are annoyances more than anything.
1.
If I type a message and click send then just close the phone the phone cancels the sending.
I have to sit there and wait for the progress bar to finish before I can do anything.
2.
Any txt messages I receive and placed straight onto the Sim card rather than the phone untill the sim card is full at which point it starts putting the txts onto the sim card.
Is there anyway to make the phone to default storage device?

Motorola W156 - readable in sunlight?
I'm looking for a basic handset that is cheap enough for me not to bother about getting wet or covered in sand.
After needing to use my current cheap handset out on the water the other day, then finding that I couldn't see what was on the screen (it wasn't even that sunny), I began to think that it would never be any good in an emergency!
After looking around, it seems that there aren't any handsets which are cheap and have an easily-viewed screen outdoors.
The Nokia 1200 with it's monochrome LCD should be fine, but then I found the Motorola W156, which seems to be more widely available (in the UK).
It's a long shot, but has anyone seen or experienced what the Motorola W156 is like outside, particularly in sunlight?
Is the Milestone already out of date for contract owners?
Contemplating whether or not to keep it ~ an 18 month contract - I cannot help thinking that with Snapdragon a month or so away, this handset is already well past its sell by date.
Or am I missing something?

Hi All, I am new to this site so hope I have picked the right area to ask this question.
I have a lg shine on with virgin and it has a very poor reception inside of my house but ok elsewhere.I have checked and there is a t-mobile mast quite close so should get a good signal.I was going to move to vodafone to see if it improved reception but then tried my sim in an old nokia 6110 I think ,and the reception is much better.So my question is which phone amongst the many has good reception.I only need a basic model so long as it has a camera.Are there any site's I can check with this info .many thanks in advance
iTunes backup location - how can I change it?
I originally had iTunes installed on my (tiny) C drive, so re-located the media library to my much bigger D drive.
However, whenever I want to sync my iPhone, the backup still seems to be done to the C drive.
Given the size of backup it's trying to do and the lack of space on the C drive, I would much rather it did this to the D drive, since I have to stop any backups currently due to not having enough space on the C...!
I have tried re-installing iTunes to the D drive, but this hasn't stopped it from using the C for the backup.
Can anyone help advise what I need to do to fix this? Am I being completely thick, or is this just part and parcel of 'wonderful' iTunes?!?

Blackberry 8110 keeps freezing
My blackberry 8110 pearl keeps freezing for about 30 seconds and then reboots every time I make or receive a call.
All other functions seem to work ok include messenger, SMS and Internet.
How can I resolve this problem?

An idiot's guide to Blackberries
Ok.
I've bought a Blackberry.
I've had an itch to scratch, and now I'm going to scratch it!
This leads to a few questions though!
1.
I'm currently on a O2 iphone sim only tariff (with 1gb data and a discount).
Can I just stick it in the phone? I seem to remember people going on about Blackberry bolt ons etc.
I notice O2 do have a specific Blackberry tariff.
But the other networks don't seem to mention it.
O2 don't like it when I use the sim in other phones (but I've done it lots of times).
2.
I seem to remember someone mentioning Blackberries use data for free abroad?
3.
As a complete noob to them, what do I need to do? I seem to remember there's some messaging service.
I hope phone / email set up is self explanatory.
Are there things I should I should install on the phone? How do I get media on/off the phone and synced up with my PC?
Tough HTC/Network Decision
Orange rang me up a couple of weeks ago and informed me that I'm due an upgrade.
I've been a Blackberry fan for the last two years, but their lack of development and poor reviews have led me away from getting the Torch.
So I had a look around at reviews and decided to make the jump to HTC, I'm a tech freak so it should suit me nicely.
I was then stuck between the two new Desire's (Z and HD.)
Since I'm now fully adapted to using a keyboard, the Desire Z was my immediate choice.
I then looked at reviews and was extremely stuck between the two.
I phoned Orange and they only sold the HD so they offered me that.
Now, two weeks later, they still haven't got any in stock.
Sadly just another thing to add to the list of problems I've had with them in my two years there!
So now I've decided to go against Orange, and opt for a new provider.
I've been told that Orange add loads of bloatware onto Android's? Is there any providers that don't do this? I can't afford to buy one outright so contract is my only option sadly.
So, my questions are:
a) Has anyone who has used both the Desire HD and Z got any strong pros/cons for either phone? The keyboard is obviously better and I'm reading about better battery life on the Z too.
Z seems to get worse reviews in most places though but nothing to really back up negative reviews apart from tiny niggles.
b) Which provider offer the best support and are generally a much more pleasant experience than Orange and don't cram the phone with bloatware?

HTC HD2 screen failure. Any ideas?

New to the forum so I am sorry if this topic has been listed before.
I recently plugged my HD2 in to charge over night and when I came back to the phone in the morning the screen had shattered.
Firstly any thoughts on how this could happen?
I have sent the phone to HTC for repair and they have quoted
HTC Desire running slow
Just this afternoon my HTC desire has decided to have a delay when Scrolling and generally moving around the phone.
The last thing I used it for was when a work colleague wanted to bluetooth an image he had taken (so not an image from a PC) to mine, I then used the usb cable to transfer the image to my work PC.
Even after this it didn't seem that slow and I had only used it after this time to send a text.
I have juice defender and advance task manager running in the background but these have been there for a while before now.
I unistalled the last app I downloaded (android light sabre ) and this has made no difference
Any thoughts?

Iphone 4 in car holder
Anyone have one that is not to expensive and will work with a case to?
Best one for me looks to be a RAM type mount as I need to screw it to my dash as I have an old classic mini, but the actual device holder will only fit bare iphone as its a very tight, I have similar mount for my Garmin on my motorbike.
Only other ones I found are Brodit but they are for more modern cars with vents to attatch to as well.
Or am i best of just going for a universal clamp type one with a bendy arm?
Also is there any way to add a remote to an iphone with out using a dock base?

GD900 - PC Suite - Administrator rights
Hi all,
I have an LG mobile phone (model: GD900).
I installed the LG PC Suite on my corporate PC with the help of the IT helpdesk as they had to provide me first with the ;Administrator; rights to perform the installation (Windows XP pro).
Of course, after the successful installation of the software the IT helpdesk had to take out the ;Administrator; rights from my profile and turn them back to ;Standard User's ; rights (for security reasons so I cannot download other software/applications on my PC without their authorisation).
When I connect my phone to my PC (via the USB cable), I receive a message on the PC screen that says:
;You are not connected as Administrator.
The Autorun function is inaccessible;.
Could you please explain to me how can I overcome this obstacle?
I suppose that whoever connects his LG mobile phone with his corporate PC should come across the same problem.
Is there something that IT helpdesk can change in my 'Standard user profile' configurations in order to make it work?

GC900 Software Update Help!
Hi,i'em in desperate need of some help with regards to updating my GC900 phone software.
I'em following all the instructions and downloading all the needed stuff but for the 'love of god' it won't update.
I've backed up all my stuff using Pc Suite and loaded up the software updating software but it keeps telling me to run activesync program before it will start.
I'em currently on phone version 10b and i think V10h is new the one so i'em way off.

I am replacing my Samsung phone, which I have had for 18 months.
I have had just about every make of phone, apart from the LG, in 6 years.
I've got a shortlist of the Cookie and the KS360 - both of these I can get free on the Orange contract I have chosen.
I use my phone mainly for texting, and playing a few games whilst I'm bored.
Has anyone got one of these phones? Who has heard of good/bad experiences of these phones?
