Buying my first Android phone

I'm thinking of buying my first Android phone. I have Verizon as a provider. I've researched the Droid Incredible, HTC Thunderbolt and the IPhone, so far. I think those are the better phones of the bunch. Can anyone give some advice about which phone is better.

For example some will want the biggest screen, others will want other features.

Tell more and is the monthly fees part of the "better" question?

I thought most smartphones have the monthy data fees. I currently have a smartphone, Samsung Rogue, but I just want more. I want to be able to do most of the things I can do on my computer.

My thoughts is that the current pads and droids make fine content consumers and communication machines but fail miserably at content creation. For example you don't find app developers writing the apps on the smartphone but "for" the smartphone.

And costs tend to get mashed into the better discussion. For example my son has the VM 25 buck plan. Pretty nice but it needs Android 2.2 (it's on 2.1 today.)
