Can a word document be save in a format readable

I plan to buy the LG Optimus V, Android phone. I am a baker and want to be able to read recipes I have on my computer at home in word on either this phone, an iPod or an inexpensive reader. Is there a way I can convert it and to what format? Not all readers read pdf.

I have no knowledge of cell phone apps, but seeing your post I thought I would do a little bit of research.

Searching Google for Android apps Word documents I found Quickoffice;

It seems to be a possibility.

The new 99 buck or less Kindle.

We can get PDF on it and we can make PDF's from Word for free with CUTEPDF (see download.com.)

Here's one of some hundred articles about how to get PDF reading and PDFs to a Kindle:

<i>"Plug your kindle into your pc using the usb cord supplied.

Locate the pdf file, and drag it to your documents file on the K3.

If it isn't password protected, or drm'd, it works."

Download/install Dropbox, which can synchronize files between multiple devices e.g. your phone and your PC. You can then save/copy any recipes (word documents) into that Dropbox folder, and all the files will automatically be available on your phone. Then you can open the document on your phone. You can increase the font so you can read it better. When you make a change/update to one of the recipes from your PC, the updated version will immediately be available on your phone, so you'll always be looking at the most recent recipe.

Benefits:

1. You don't have to copy files to your phone via USB or a memory card reader.

2. You won't have multiple versions of a recipe.

3. You don't have to change your files e.g. convert to PDF, etc.
